Opal is a well established, family-owned, independent publishing house in Sweden. We publish books for children and young adults with a clear quality profile, both fiction and non-fiction, illustrated and text-only. Each year Opal publishes approximately 50 new titles.

The publishing house was founded in 1973, and is located in Stockholm. We publish a number of translations each year, but the main focus has for a long time been Swedish originals. Vox by Opal, in imprint with focus on YA literature, was founded in 2017.
